Grass Tree spear |
|
In spring the Xanthorrhoea or grass tree, as it is more commonly called, can produce a long flowering spike - over 2.0m tall. When I took this photograph (showing a section of the spike) the flowers had stopped blooming and metamorphoses had begun transforming the flowers into fruit. Looking at this marvellous design of colour, shape and texture I can see how the native people of this land get inspiration for their artwork - from the patterns of nature. |
